Overstrand Municipal Manager Dean O\u2019Neill explains what to do:<span>.<\/span> You may be required to yield or come to a complete stop at the end of the exit lane onto the R43.<span>.<\/span> Check distances ahead of time from approaching vehicles on R43, to make sure your exit does not take other drivers by surprise.<span>.<\/span> Check your mirrors and glance over your shoulder when entering the R43 from the exit lane, as it is likely there are multiple vehicles leaving the R43 at the same time.<span>.<\/span> When merging into the traffic flow from the exit lane it needs to be done safely, otherwise it can end-up in a serious collision.<span>.<\/span> Continue along the exit lane and re-enter the R43 once the dotted line starts.<span>.<\/span> Watch out for potential conflicts with other drivers approaching you from the right-hand side, signal your lane change and manoeuvre smoothly and safely onto R43 when it is safe to do so.<span>.<\/span> The motor vehicles on the R43 will always have right of way so proceed into the traffic flow only when it is safe to do so.<i><span id=\"U1082502151F5B\" style=\"font-weight:bold;font-style:normal;\">Common mistakes made:<\/span><\/i><span>.<\/span> Never cross multiple lanes in one manoeuvre.<span>. <\/span>Do not cut into traffic with faster vehicles approaching.<span>.<\/span> Do not move into the R43 where the solid barrier line does not allow you to do so.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There is confusion regarding the exit lane at Whale Coast Mall in Hermanus.
