Vir jare het Wyngaard tussen Caledon en Johannesburg gependel. Met sy onlangse aanstelling as uitvoerende hoof van die nuwe burgerregte-organisasie \u201cKaapse Forum\u201d, is Caledon nou weer sy permanente tuiste. Di\u00e9 aanstelling het positiewe sowel as fel kritiek uitgelok. Hermanus Times <\/span>het aan Wyngaard \u2019n paar vrae gestel oor die Kaapse Forum asook oor die storm wat om sy kop losgebars het n\u00e1 die bekendmaking van sy aanstelling.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wat is Kaapse Forum? Dit is \u2019n organisasie sonder winsbejag wat wil verseker dat van die funksies wat tans deur die Staat op \u2019n nasionale vlak verrig word, en dikwels onvoldoende uitgevoer word, afgewentel kan word na die provinsie, of selfs beter, na plaaslike gemeenskappe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hoe het jy hierby betrokke geraak? Ek was een van die belanghebbendes wat deur Afriforum en Kallie Kriel persoonlik gevra is om ons mening te gee oor die moontlike stigting van so organisasie. Dit is na aanleiding van di\u00e9 gesprekke wat Kallie my gevra het of ek beskikbaar sou wees om die organisasie te lei. My en Kallie se pad kom al van die laat negentiger jare aan toe ons albei by die parlement was \u2013 hy as mediawoordvoerder vir \u2019n party en ek as politieke verslaggewer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hoe is Afriforum betrokke en het hulle enige s\u00ea in wat Kaapse Forum gaan doen? Kaapse Forum is \u2019n organisasie; \u2019n regsentiteit op sy eie, maar in vennootskap met Afriforum, bloot omdat Afriforum die organisasie is wat \u2013 aan die begin, in elk geval \u2013 geld en hulpbronne beskikbaar stel om Kaapse Forum te help om op sy eie voete te kom. Of hulle \u2019n s\u00ea gaan h\u00ea? Dit hang af wat \u2019n mens bedoel met \u201cs\u00ea\u201d. Hulle is \u2019n vennoot, so dit word in samewerking gedoen. Mense wonder dalk of Afriforum aan Kaapse Forum sal voorskryf? Nee! In Kallie se eie woorde: \u201cKaapse Forum is nie \u2019n Afriforum Lite <\/i>nie.\u201d Onthou, Afriforum het lede in die Wes-Kaap. Kaapse Forum vervang nie Afriforum se Wes-Kaapse strukture nie. Dit is \u2019n organisasie wat sy eie lede moet werf. \u2019n Mens hoop Afriforum se lede in die provinsie sal bereid wees om by Kaapse Forum aan te sluit om te help om Kaapse Forum te bou.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jy is bekend as joernalis, radio- en televisie-aanbieder. Gaan jy voort met jou programme? Toe ek laat verlede jaar besluit het om die nuwe uitdaging te aanvaar, het ek die produksiemaatskappye van my planne vertel. Ek kan nie in my nuwe rol aangaan as anker in \u2019n aktualiteitsprogram nie, want die nuwe organisasie sal nou self \u2019n nuusmaker wees. Klop<\/span><\/i>is \u2019n geselsprogram en sal voortgaan. Ek doen nie meer Monitor <\/i>en Spektrum<\/i>, wat ek op RSG aangebied het, nie. Ek sal dalk voortgaan met Kommentaar<\/i>, RSG se nuusprogram op Sondagaande, wat ek sal fasiliteer indien hulle my die kans gee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daar word uit verskeie oorde gevra oor wie die direksie is met wie jy gaan saamwerk. Wie is die direkteure? Op die 4de Mei sal \u2019n aankondiging gedoen word om die direkteure van Kaapse Forum bekend te stel, en ook of ons beskermhere sal h\u00ea. Daar is baie belangstelling oor wie die direksie gaan wees \u2013 spesifiek vanaf kritici. Mense wag eintlik maar dat die direksie hulle reg sal bewys in di\u00e9 dat hulle glo Afriforum wil Kaapse Forum, en vir my, as \u2019n marionet gebruik \u2013 \u2019n soort van bruin handpop, vir dit wat Afriforum dan nou nie onder sy eie naam sal wil doen of kan regkry nie. Dit is absolute twak. Ek is vol vertroue dat ons \u2019n direksie sal kan saamstel wat verteenwoordigend is van die mense van die Wes-Kaap \u2013 mense met bepaalde kundighede, ervaring, netwerke en insigte, wat my, wat aan die hoof van die organisasie staan, met hierdie groot verantwoordelikheid sal kan help en bystaan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daar word ook ges\u00ea dat julle eers \u2019n mandaat moes kry voordat julle die organisasie stig. Wat is jou kommentaar hierop? Die hele idee dat Kaapse Forum veronderstel was om \u2019n mandaat in die bruin gemeenskap te kry om te kan doen wat ons beoog om te doen, is iets wat ek nog nie lekker verstaan nie \u2013 spesifiek ook omdat die bruin gemeenskappe self so divers is. Daar is soveel uiteenlopende standpunte, menings, strukture en organisasies. As jy nou \u2019n mandaat moet kry, na wie toe gaan jy? En hoe lank neem dit jou? Hierdie is \u2019n vrywillige organisasie. Jy aanvaar ons hulp, of nie. Jy word deel daarvan, of nie. Ons hoop natuurlik dat mense wel sal wil saamwerk. Kaapse Forum is nie \u2019n bruin organisasie per se <\/i>nie. Jy gaan nie met \u2019n kultuurgebondenheid of bruin identiteit lede kan werf nie. Die organisasie is oop vir almal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jy het in \u2019n ander onderhoud genoem dat julle vir die mense weer wil hoop gee. Hoe? Wanneer \u2019n organisasie gestig word, kan jy nie altyd in presiese besonderhede s\u00ea wat jy alles gaan doen nie. Jy moet baie versigtig wees dat jy nie \u2019n klomp beloftes maak nie. Ons prim\u00eare besorgdheid nou is om hierdie organisasie op die been te bring; om dit gestig te kry; om dit bekend te stel; om vir mense te laat weet van hierdie organisasie. In eenvoudige taal: Wat is daardie funksies waaroor julle heeltyd kla wat die staat veronderstel is om te verrig, maar dit nie uitvoer nie? Ons wil h\u00ea dit moet uiteindelik in jul eie hande beland. Dit is \u2019n organisasie wat besorgde inwoners van die provinsie se belange op die hart dra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Het jy hierdie storm wat oor jou kop losgebars het en waar mense jou persoonlik aanval, verwag? Ek het nie verwag dat enigiemand in die vieslikste terme sou reageer nie. Waarom sal dit vir mense belangrik wees om in daardie soort taal hulle ongelukkigheid met \u2019n persoonlike besluit wat ek geneem het, uit te spreek, of hul ongelukkigheid met Afriforum as \u2019n vennoot uit te spreek? Hulle sal daarop kan antwoord, maar ek wil nie h\u00ea iemand moet my verdedig as \u2019n gemeenskap of \u2019n individu hom- of haarself tot sulke taalgebruik wend nie, of tot op so \u2019n lae, vieslike vlak daal nie. As armoede, apartheid en akademiese onder-prestasie my nie kon onderkry nie, dan sal hierdie aanvalle ook nie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dink jy daar gaan \u2019n ommeswaai wees as mense sien wat julle doen? Wat ons gaan doen, gaan ons nie doen om kritici stil te kry nie, maar om vir die mense vir wie ons iets wil doen, te bewys dat ons ernstig is daaroor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n het ook met Kallie Kriel, uitvoerende hoof van Afriforum, gepraat oor Wyngaard se aanstelling en die daaropvolgende kritiek.<\/span> \u201cDit is vir my \u2019n persoonlike eer en \u2019n voorreg om met iemand soos Heindrich, met sy kundigheid en absolute dryfkrag om \u2019n verskil in gemeenskappe te maak, te mag saamwerk en ek sien baie uit daarna. Wat die \u201cKaapse storm\u201d betref wat nou om sy kop losgebars het, dink ek Heindrich het die situasie met uitnemendheid en grasie hanteer. Om die waarheid te s\u00ea, ek het baie geleer van hom \u2013 ook in terme van die kundigheid waarmee hy dit aangepak het.
