This comes after rumours were spread on social media about child smugglers allegedly offering drug addicts up to R2 000 to kidnap children from school. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Caledon Police spokesperson Sergeant Tembi Gweyi confirmed no incidents relating to the messages have been reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere is no concrete evidence or information regarding these allegations,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe want to urge the public not to spread rumours that will cause unnecessary panic.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He urged parents to always ensure their children\u2019s safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMinimise the risk of abduction and kidnapping by always ensuring that your child has reliable transport or a trustworthy person to fetch them from school. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAlso ensure that you have a reliable person to look after your child after school,\u201d he advised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
