The Overstrand Thusong Services Centre, in partnership with various government departments, visited the communities of Stanford and Kleinmond on 25 and 26 May, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The outreach forms part of government\u2019s ongoing effort to bring much needed services closer to communities. This included the Department of Labour and Employment, Department of Social Development, Overstrand Youth Desk, Independent Electoral Commission, Boland College, South African Revenue Service (Sars), Government Communication and Information System (GCIS), work conflict mediator CCMA, National Youth Development Agency and Department of Health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maria and Magdalena Davids, two sisters from Stanford, appreciated the services, usually expensive to access because of enormous transport costs, which were made easily accessible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nomaefese Malgas, a young woman from Stanford and owner of a small catering business, was very excited about the offering from the National Youth Development Agency. She said: \u201cI was very impressed with the level of professional service I received from Trudy Mashilwane of the NYDA. The services available from the agency will definitely benefit my business.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Councillor Elnora Gillion, chairperson of the Local Economic Development portfolio committee, said Overstrand Municipality is committed to securing better opportunities and quality services for all residents of the Overstrand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The next outreach will be on 22 and 23 June in Blompark, Gansbaai. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
