At a fundraising event held at Hermanus Golf Club the South African Air Force Association (Saafa) entertained all members of the branch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The association is a non-profit organisation that relies on minimal membership fees from full-time members to cover its expenses. It further relies on donations and other fundraising proceeds to remain sustainable and be able to achieve its objectives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Marthie Visser, spokesperson for Saafa, the association has 18 branches countrywide and is a member of the South African National Military Veterans Association (Sanmva). \u201cThe Whale Coast branch happens to be the youngest Saafa branch, inaugurated on 11 March,\u201d she pointed out. \u201cMembers reside mainly in the Overstrand municipal area (covering Rooi Els along the coast eastward to Pearly Beach), but also includes members from as far as Somerset West, Cape Agulhas and Robertson.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The aim of the golf club event was to raise funds for, among other things, benevolence \u2013 ie to support and care for the general well-being of needy members. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Says Visser: \u201cThe branch also takes this opportunity to reach out to those former members of the South African Air Force and\/or members of their families in the area to contact us and join the SA Air Force Association, to share in the good camaraderie, friendship and support that exist among us.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
