The Overberg Community Trust held its 20th annual general meeting at the Caledon Casino Hotel recently. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Everybody present agreed that it was lovely to be able to have a \u201creal\u201d meeting again, with trustees and members of the public present, as opposed to the previous year\u2019s online meeting due to Covid restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As is usual with an AGM, matters pertaining to the previous year as well as the way forward were discussed. A representative of the auditors gave a detailed overview of the finances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The trust financially assists many individuals and organisations through the allocation of bursaries for further studies at tertiary institutions and through donations to develop skills and to assist entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This year 71 bursary applications were received, of which 27 applicants will receive financial assistance. Of the 37 donation applications of different organisations and individuals 12 applications were successful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In her opening speech trustee member Eunice Theunissen said the chairperson, Rev Canon Patty Edwards, took the reins in a very difficult time and managed to keep the trust going.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The chairperson said the Overberg Community Trust has pledged to be an instrument of positive change and assistance within the Overberg region and strives to maintain this goal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
