They were made aware of an injured female baboon in Silversands, Betty\u2019s Bay. \u201cOn first inspection it seemed the wound on her rear thigh was from a dog bite,\u201d Dean O\u2019Neill, Municipal Manager, said. \u201cA known activist for baboon rights was also disrupting the course of events. The team was unable to assess the female\u2019s injuries before she moved away into the thick bushes.\u201d Hours later, she was found dead, apparently after her condition had deteriorated to the point where she stopped breathing. \u201cThe public is again requested not to interfere with baboon management when carrying out their duties, for it has dire consequences for these animals,\u201d O\u2019Neill concluded.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
