The picturesque town of Greyton was the perfect location for the Photographic Society of South Africa (PSSA), which is the umbrella body of about 100 photographic clubs, to have its recent annual congress. About 180 photographers from around the country were joined by members from Hermanus and Gansbaai, with more than half from outside the Western Cape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Delegates not only went on interesting shoots around Greyton, Genadendal and local farms, but also attended a series of 10 lectures, varying from portraiture to infrared photography, presented by various members. John Alexander, local resident and PSSA member, suggested walking and driving routes as well as guiding members on farm visits, enabling them to capture the local surrounding beauty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The landscape lectures by Paul Bruins, former Overberg resident and well-known landscape photographer, proved to be especially popular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The congress, held from 21 to 25 August, ended with an Awards and Honours Banquet, where top photographers and club achievers received awards.
