Two-a-Day in Grabouw has been celebrating women since August, but in October, a number of events have been dedicated to raising awareness about the role of women in agriculture. This included a gala celebration for Women of Strength on 8 October. Other events raise awareness of the risk of cancer and the plight of victims of violence against women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier this year, Two-a-Day began a new programme focused on \u201cfamily enrichment\u201d. It entailed sharing skills and offering support to improve the domestic life of employees. Some of the elements were aimed at managing conflict in relationships. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe asked for everyday heroes to be nominated, women who inspire their colleagues on a daily basis with kindness, uplifting conversations and positivity to be awarded as Two-a-Day\u2019s Women of Strength. Welda Mentoor, Nidean Bosch, Primrose Panyane, Anthea Skippers, Petronella Badjies, Ncebekazi Madodana, Megan van Tonder, Murchell Kamineth and Maria Cloete were nominated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFormer Two-a-Day employee and Idols South Africa<\/span> winner Karin Kortje joined Kim Webster, a presenter at Disa 95.9fm, at the gala event\u201d says Wellness Friends chair, Raymond Kamineth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sister Cheryl Bozman said: \u201cThe risk of breast cancer is being highlighted with weekly screening times at the clinic at Two-a-Day. Staff are invited to wear something pink to raise awareness on Fridays in October and we are inviting people to have their hair sprayed pink. This is to raise further awareness of breast cancer and to remove any stigma about being screened.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Kamineth says men have not been forgotten. \u201cIn November we will focus on men\u2019s health and our last project for the year will put the focus on ending gender-based violence \u2013 16 days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to Dimitri Jacobs, Director: Human Resources at Two-a-Day Group, the Enrichment Programme worth R150 000 is well underway. With a full-time social worker, Carmenita Julies, and a clinical psychologist, Willie Hanekom, on the team on a weekly basis, the Enrichment Programme aims to meet seven outcomes.?\u201cSome employees face violence, abuse, dysfunctional family dynamics, and marriage and relationship conflicts so our goal is to empower our people to mitigate these negative experiences so they can continue to bring their best selves to work each day,\u201d Jacobs said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tru-Cape Fruit Marketing is responsible for selling the fruit from Two-a-Day.
