The Rotary Club of Stanford appeals to the public to assist them in bringing some cheer to those in dire need this holiday season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Unemployment is still very high while food prices continue to skyrocket. This leaves the poor community in an extremely vulnerable position. To alleviate this problem the Rotary Club of Stanford will be distributing food hampers to less fortunate families in Stanford. These hampers are called Hampers of Love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The hampers are packed at a cost of R230 each and contain basic food items and a few treats. It will be packed and distributed in Stanford on 20 December to over 200 elderly, sick and desperately poor villagers who are even worse off at year end when the Rotary soup kitchen volunteers take a well-deserved break. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The campaign is well organised, and hampers are distributed to those families who are in genuine need in Stanford.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYour kindness and support will be greatly appreciated,\u201d said Lana Coates of the Rotary Club, \u201cand go a long way to helping a poor family enjoy their Christmas, however humble it may be. There is no greater gift than seeing a smile of gratitude on the face of a desperately poor child or elderly person, and we get plenty of those.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cash donations can be left at the Stanford Tourism office in an envelope clearly marked Rotary Hampers. Leave your name and contact details along with the envelope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
