Two suspects have been charged with assault after allegedly attacking a car guard in Hermanus on 22 November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOne of the CCTV camera operators at Hermanus Public Protection (HPP) raised the alarm when he saw an unidentified person being attacked by two others in the CBD,\u201d explained Marius Boshoff, Hermanus branch manager for Fidelity ADT. \u201cLocal response teams were alerted to intervene as soon as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Further investigation later revealed that the alleged assailants were unregistered car guards who had tried to solicit payment from a member of the public. The assault victim was a registered car guard who intervened, and this led to their attacking him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In an unrelated incident a few days earlier, a suspect was detained when found in possession of stolen property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOne of the HPP Foot Patrol Officers encountered the suspect close to the footpaths,\u201d Boshoff said. \u201cHe immediately recognised the suspect as an individual well-known to authorities and saw he had four pairs of shoes in his possession. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe suspect reportedly admitted to stealing the shoes from a nearby residence earlier.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was detained and the owner of the residence was informed the shoes were recovered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In another unrelated incident (on Sunday) a suspect was arrested after being found in possession of a dangerous weapon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOne of the HPP CCTV operators saw the man loitering outside a building in the industrial area. Local security role-players were alerted and the suspect was located. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe was identified as a well-known housebreaking suspect and a search led to the discovery of a large knife in his possession.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
