Vivo United Soccer Academy does not only teach its players great soccer moves but also to give back to the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The club recently did a beach clean-up at Hawston Beach. The event was planned and organised by Eli-Ross Gillion, Earl Maree and Jayden Arendse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe aim of the beach clean-up was for the Soccer Academy to give back to the surrounding community it operates in,\u201d said Maree. \u201cVivo wants to do more than just train and play football. We as Vivo always want to give back as much as we can. By doing this we also teach the boys about how to give back and be mindful of what we are throwing in the bin.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The beach clean-up was done by the football players from Vivo and members of TS Birkenhead (Hawston) Sea Cadets. No\u00ebl Dryer represented the Whale Coast Conservation and shared some important information about the environment and the importance of environmental conservation. Penelope Aplon of Overstrand Municipality\u2019s Environmental Management department explained the importance of a clean beach. The municipality supplied the rubbish bags, rakes and spades. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
After the informative talks, everyone was split up into three teams for the clean-up. Approximately 25 bags of rubbish were collected during the clean-up. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt was hard work but rewarding to see the end result,\u201d said Maree. \u201cThe overall mood of the boys was enthusiastic as it was something different to what they are used to.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Vivo United Soccer academy was founded in 2017 by Earl Maree and Falcon Sauvage and is currently the only football institute in Hermanus to offer high quality training to a diverse array of players from very different backgrounds. It offers training to players from as young as six and has approximately 100 players. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The club\u2019s vision, said Maree, is to \u201ccreate an inclusive environment with equal opportunity for all sport lovers from different backgrounds and to continuously encourage integration. To always have a high level of training at an affordable cost. We aim to include Education, Sport and Life Skills in order to nurture a disciplined and holistic human being.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Vivo\u2019s training takes place at 16:30 every Monday to Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Academy has recently joined the Local Leagues and will be partaking in the 2022\/23 football season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Vivo currently can not take in more players as the facilities they use can not accommodate more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
