Inwoners is bekommerd oor die rioolstorting in natuurlike waterbronne in en om Hermanus en volgens hulle doen die Overstrand-munisipaliteit net mooi niks om die probleem hok te slaan nie.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDit is vakansietyd en weer eens staar ons die probleem rakende rioolstorting in die gesig. Ek praat van die Kleinrivier. Die plekke waar die rioolpompstasies in Hermanus opgerig is, bly \u2018n groot probleem, veral as jy na die pompstasies by Onrus, die Mosselrivier en Kleinrivier kyk,\u201d het een van die lesers in \u2018n brief geskryf.<\/p>\n

Die Kleinriviermond is deesdae \u2018n toeristeaantreklikheid, maar met die rioolstortingprobleem, is dit volgens die briefskrywer \u2018n nagmerrie en is die probleem duidelik nie onder beheer nie.<\/p>\n

Die Overstrand-munisipaliteit berig dat beurtkrag \u2018n rol speel in die probleme by die pompstasies en dat daar \u2018n veiligheidsband deur die verkenners by die verkennerkamp by die Kleinrivier opgerig is. <\/p>\n

Volgens die briefskrywer was daar \u2018n groot rioolstorting by die Onrusrivier verlede jaar en het die munisipaliteit glo planne gemaak om die probleem hok te slaan, maar \u2018n jaar later is daar weer probleme en steeds probleme. Gerugte doen ook die ronde dat van die mense wat gereeld by die Kleinrivier swem en aktief is, \u2018n maagvirus opgedoen het. <\/p>\n

Volgens die munisipale bestuurder van die Overstrand-munisipaliteit het beurtkrag \u2018n impak op alles en is die Overstrand geen uitsondering nie.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSoos verwag gaan die gebruiklike toestroming van inwoners na die gebied oor die vakansietyd ons water-en-sanitasie-infrastruktuur onder groter druk plaas \u2013 \u2018n s<\/span>ituasie wat vererger gaan word indien Eskom voortgaan om ho\u00ebr vlakke van beurtkrag toe te pas waar elektrisiteitsvoorsiening vir tot so lank as 4,5 uur op \u2018n keer <\/span>en vir tot 12 ure in \u2018n 24-uur-tydperk ontwrig word. <\/span>Wees gerus dat alles moontlik gedoen is om die impak te\u00eb te werk wat  verlengde ontwrigting van elektrisiteitsvoorsiening aan Overstrand se water-en sanitasie-<\/span>infrastruktuur dalk kan h\u00ea soos m<\/span>obiele kragopwekkers\/tenkers sal op \u2018n gereedheidsgrondslag wees om <\/span>sensitiewe aanlegte te bedien indien nodig,\u201d het O\u2019Neill verduidelik. \u201c<\/span>Ongelukkig is alle aanlegte nog nie van kragopwekkers voorsien nie. <\/span>Gevolglik kan inwoners in sommige hoogliggende gebiede dalk tydelik \u2018n verlies aan <\/span>waterdruk en selfs \u2018n onderbreking in watervoorsiening ervaar wanneer beurtkrag vir <\/span>verlengde tydperke toegepas word\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/p>

Die munisipaliteit doen\u2019n beroep op alle inwoners en besoekers om water spaarsaam te gebruik aangesien dit sal help om, eerstens, reservoirs se vlakke te handhaaf en, tweedens, <\/span>die vloei van rioolwater te verlaag wat die las op rioolpompstasies sal verlig.<\/span><\/p>\n
