The Western Cape Provincial Detectives Unit is investigating the murder of ANC councillor Simphiwe Silo, who was stabbed to death in the early hours of Monday 6 February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Silo was reportedly on his way home when he became embroiled in an argument, during which he sustained stab wounds. It is reported that he stumbled home in search of help. However, he died before he could receive medical attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Warrant officer Joseph Swartbooi, provincial police spokesperson, confirmed Hermanus police arrived on the scene at approximately 02:45. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel,\u201d he stated. \u201cThe unknown suspects are yet to be arrested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe motive for the attack is a possible argument. The Western Cape Provincial Detectives are probing the circumstances surrounding this incident and are investigating a murder.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Councillor Connie Tafu-Nwonkwo, ANC Chief Whip in the Overstrand, said Silo\u2019s death came as a big shock, as he was busy recovering from an unknown ailment that required him to see a traditional healer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She described him as a good and friendly man who would always try to solve problems and help people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCouncillor Silo decided to join politics after the 2018 riots. He has been a councillor since November 2019. He was also an acting pastor. When he preached, it made you want to be a better person and do the right thing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tafu-Nwonkwo expressed her condolences to Silo\u2019s family and urged them to keep his \u201clegacy of serving his community\u201d alive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
