It\u2019s official \u2013 Hermanus is the most loved destination in South Africa and is ranked 18th in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This according to Tourism Sentiment Index (TSI), a travel data intelligence solution created by Destination Think, a marketing agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Western Cape claims three of the top 50 \u201cMost Loved Destinations\u201d. Stellenbosch ranking at number 34, and Cape Town moved up 14 places to 40. Last year Hermanus was number 41. Hermanus\u2019 top asset was wildlife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Maldives was ranked the most-loved destination, followed by two destinations in Queensland, Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Dr Annelie Rabie, Overstrand Executive Mayor, the region\u2019s tourism experienced an encouraging season, and this latest listing will no doubt place the Overberg on the map of new and return travellers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Overstrand Municipality is grateful to all the local tourism and business stakeholders responsible for making this a top destination for residents and visitors,\u201d she said, acknowledging the collective effort required to achieve such a success. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe news is set to benefit the people and businesses of the Overstrand and surrounding Overberg.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After the news was announced on Facebook several residents reacted with mixed feelings about this achievement: \u201cHermanus should be top of anyone\u2019s bucket list,\u201d one Facebook user posted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
