The Women\u2019s World Day of Prayer (WWDP) is will be celebrated by the DR church in Stanford on 3 March at 15:00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Having women from all churches represented at this special service will be most welcome, the organisers say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The WWDP is an annual ecumenical celebration held in 176 countries and regions across the globe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is a global ecumenical movement led by Christian women who invite all women to join in prayer and action for peace and justice. This year the Taiwan WWDP Committee has compiled the programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In South Africa the first WWDP service was held in March 1930 at the Sea Point Congregational church. In 1946 a National Committee for Southern Africa was established. Its members are nominated by the leadership of the various denominations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The global WWDP states that participation in South Africa is among the best in the world. \u201cWe praise and thank the Lord for the faith, the need for prayer and the devoted interest in World Day of Prayer revealed by so many Christians in our country,\u201d local organisers stated. \u201cThe national office in South Africa also distributes programmes to Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Swaziland and Zimbabwe. More than 100 000 women participate annually.
