Napier Police had a busy Easter weekend, ensuring the community is safe, executing search warrants and following up information which led to the recovery of stolen goods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Warrant Officer Kobus Jafta, the acting station commander, stated that the numerous successes they achieved is thanks to good cooperation between the police, reservists, members of the Community Policing Forum (CPF), the community and other law enforcement agencies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the weekend\u2019s successes was when officers arrested a suspected thief when they responded to a complaint of diesel that was stolen on a farm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMembers immediately followed up on information and came upon the bakkie that sped away on one of the dirt roads between Napier and Elim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe driver lost control and the vehicle landed in some bushes. He tried to flee but was arrested. He appeared in the Bredasdorp Magistrate\u2019s Court on a charge of theft. The investigation is ongoing,\u201d Jafta said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The confiscation of various dangerous weapons, said Jafta, is also seen as a victory as the area has been plagued by a number of assaults involving knives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Drug dealing in the area was also dealt a blow when the police followed up on information and confiscated tik and Mandrax with an estimated street value of R 28 000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThank you to the Bredasdorp Police who assisted us. One suspect appeared in court on a charge of dealing in drugs. He was released on a warning pending the results of forensic testing,\u201d said Jafta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another triumph was when the Napier Police recovered a variety of stolen items including a cast iron stove and bar fridge after following up on tip-offs from the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
