Altogether 18 kickboxers of the Legacy Martial Arts Academy in Hermanus are off to Limpopo Province to compete at the SA National Kickboxing Championships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shihan Ruehan van Romburgh, Anuscha Thorne, Aidan Brummer, Devine Januarie, Chris Taylor, Lyle Asary, Gareth Cupido, Alexander Jansen van Vuuren, Chelene Kreusch, Dylan Isaacs, Justice Luthuli, Mason Brummer, Kayden Poole, Giovanni Momberg, Namika Pieterse, Werner Enslin-Roux, Zius Brand and Zaanru Fraser are due to compete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These 18 fighters were part of the Overberg Kickboxing team that competed in the annual Western Cape Provincial Kickboxing Championships that were held in Hermanus at the end of March. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Five districts \u2013 Eden, Winelands, Cape Town, West Coast and the hosting region Overberg \u2013 took part in the event. A total of 352 participants took part in various fighting modes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the tatami floor mats it was point fighting, continuous fighting and kick light. In the ring full contact, low kick and K1 rule fighting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Eden District was crowned the winner of the tournament and Cape Town ended in second place. The Overberg kickboxing team, consisting of fighters from four different kickboxing academies in the Overberg region, ended in third place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shihan Ruehan van Romburg, president of the Overberg Kickboxing Association and owner of Legacy Martial Arts Academy, said the tournament was a \u201ctruly amazing\u201d event that drew more than 300 spectators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A total of 22 of Van Romburgh\u2019s students from the Legacy Martial Arts Academy were part of the Overberg kickboxing team. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
These fighters made their club proud by winning 13 gold, 10 silver and 15 bronze medals. They participated in two to three fighting modes per fighter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOf the 22 fighters 18 were selected for the Western Cape provincial kickboxing team that will compete at the South African kickboxing championships in Ellisras, Limpopo from 28-30 April,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
