So said Overstrand Deputy Mayor Lindile Ntsabo after Hermanus hosted the Western Cape Youth and Elite Boxing Championships in Zwelihle over the weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Approximately 200 talented young boxers from all over the Western Province participated in this elite event that was held at Qhayiya Secondary School. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mzi Damesi, local boxing coach from the Overstrand Whale Boxing Club, said: \u201cThis day was a real extravaganza for the people of Zwelihle. About 600 people attended this event and we are grateful for this support.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He pointed out that the interest in boxing, especially among children (the boxers of tomorrow) is increasing. \u201cThrough boxing we keep children off the streets and away from alcohol and drug abuse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThey are now participating in a sport that can help them in the future and have a positive impact in their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The boxers from the Overstrand Whale Boxing Club did extremely well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFour of our six boxers won gold, one silver and one bronze,\u201d said Damesi. \u201cWe are so proud of them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI want to thank the Overstrand Municipality\u2019s Sports Manager for his support as well as Frieda Lloyd, Tourism Manager and the Cape Whale Coast. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
