The country is in the grip of winter and plummeting temperatures and rainy conditions have increased the need for warm blankets among the less fortunate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To address this need in our communities a number of organisations have launched blanket and\/or winter drives to collect warm blankets and food that will be distributed to those in need.<\/b>\n<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\nspread some love<\/b><\/h1>\n\n\n\n\n
The Hermanus Community Policing Forum (CPF) has launched a Blanket Blitz to collect and distribute as many as possible blankets in the area.<\/p>\n
Those who wish to assist this project can drop warm blankets off at CAM Vision Live\u2019s office at the Onrus Trading Post, at PostNet Hermanus or PostNet in Sandbaai. <\/p>\n
Stanford Rotary Club also calls on those more fortunate to donate money which will be used to buy new blankets (each blanket costs R80) or donate second-hand blankets that are clean and in a good condition. <\/p>\n
The organisation added that knitted or crocheted blankets for small children up to two years will also be welcome. For more info on this project contact Lana Coates on 082 216 4398.<\/b><\/p>\nwinter drive<\/h1>\n
Cape Agulhas Municipality has also called on its residents to open their hands, hearts and cupboards to support its Winter Drive. Residents are urged to donate non-perishable food items, warm blankets and clothes. <\/p>\n
\u201cSomething old to you can become something valuable for someone else. Let\u2019s share the warmth of giving,\u201d it said in a statement. <\/p>\n
\u201cThese donations will go towards our NGOs as well as our own Cape Agulhas Food and Clothing bank in case of disasters.\u201d<\/p>\n
Donations can be dropped off at the Old Nedbank building, the main municipal building, the Thusong Centre in Bredasdorp or at the municipal offices in Struisbaai and Napier.<\/p>\n
