The 21st annual general meeting of The Overberg Community Trust was held at the Caledon Casino & Spa on Saturday 24 June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Venerable Patty Edwards, chairperson of the Trust, gave an overview of the year past as well as the way forward. \u201cThe year under review had highs and lows. We are grateful for the highs and learn from the lows. The Overberg Community Trust has pledged to be an instrument of positive change and assistance within the Overberg region and strives to maintain this goal,\u201d Edwards said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Beulinde Fisher, general secretary of the Trust, thanked everybody who supported the Trust during the past year and said: \u201cWe believe that we will go from strength to strength in making a positive impact in the lives of many.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Toni Linde, representing the auditors, gave a detailed and insightful overview of the Trust\u2019s finances. Of the 69 bursary applications received 23 applicants will receive financial assistance. Altogether 63 donation and entrepreneurial applications consisting of various organisations and individuals were received, of which 22 applications were successful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Long-standing trustees Dirk Jantjies and Hendrika Johannes will be retiring at the end of the year after many years of invaluable service to the Trust. Four new trustees, Paul Valen\u00adtine, Leilani Abrams, Luzeth Smith and Christian Hopley, were appointed and will represent their respective areas on the Board of Trustees.
