Mthimkhulu Community Development invites everyone to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Mandela Day by participating in their Pick n No-Pay Shopping Day on Tuesday 18 July from 11:00 to 13:00 at Mthimkhulu Village Centre at 105 9th Avenue in Kleinmond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are calling for donations of children\u2019s clothing, adult clothing, household goods such as blankets, kitchen utensils, crockery, cutlery, pots and pans, non-perishable food and anything that could be useful to indigent families in need,\u201d spokesperson Joan Daries said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said families in need will be assessed and allocated vouchers to \u201cpurchase\u201d items according to their need by redeeming their vouchers in exchange for donated goods on Mandela Day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBeneficiaries will be given the dignity of deciding what they need rather than us giving them awarded vouchers according to their needs,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The young people in Kleinmond will also be part of this project. Darries added that the winter of 2023 is brutally cold and wet and will have an impact on the community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMany of our community members are suffering untold hardship because of this cold weather,\u201d she pointed out, \u201cand that is why young people in Kleinmond will also be collecting soup ingredients for 67 pots of soup that will also be given out on the day.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
