Die koswerklikheidsreeks Kokkedoor Vuur & Vlam<\/span> begin Donderdag 27 Julie om 20:00 op kykNET. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vir Kokkedoor Vuur & Vlam<\/i> gaan deelnemers alles in die vlamme, op die kole, binne-in die as of op die rooster moet voorberei, terwyl die bekroonde sjef Bertus Basson en braaighoeroe Kobus Botha, op soek is na die perfekte kombinasie van \u2019n onthoubraaier en kinkelbraaier \u2013 \u2019n onthoubraaier het nie formele sjef-opleiding en professionele ondervinding nie, maar hul hart klop warm vir tradisionele kos. Hulle word gekies vir hul vernuf as \u2019n huiskok en hul kennis van onthoukos. Kinkelbraaiers word gekies vir hul kwalifikasies en \/ of hul ondervinding in \u2019n erkende restaurant of professionele kombuis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n Hermanus Times <\/span>het met die plaaslike onthoubraaier, Francois de Wet (51) gesels. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDit was eintlik \u2019n gelukskoot dat ek aan die reeks deelgeneem het. Ons vervaardig ons eie braaitoerusting en wou net \u2019n platform soek om ons braaitoerusting te bemark en toe eindig ek op voor die skerms,\u201d vertel Francois.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Francois, wat nou al 15 jaar in Struisbaai woon, het al orals in die w\u00eareld gebly \u2013 van Spanje, Itali\u00eb tot in Kanada. In Suid-Afrika het hy ook al orals gewoon, maar dit is Struisbaai wat hy sy tuiste noem. \u201cEk het in Gauteng gewerk en gewoon en nadat my pa siek geword het na Struisbaai verhuis en nooit weer teruggegaan nie,\u201d vertel hy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hy kyk nie terug nie en s\u00ea local<\/i> is lekker. Dit is ook in Struisbaai waar hy sy braaitoerusting, Infinity Stainless Steel, vervaardig. Kyk \u2019n mens na hul webwerf, www.365.com, kom jy gou agter dat dit nie net \u2019n agterplaas-fabriek is nie, maar \u2019n gerekende industri\u00eble onderneming wat van krag tot krag gaan. \u201c365 gaan oor die gehalte vlekvryestaal wat ons vir ons produkte gebruik. Ons verkoop alles, van braaitange tot braairoosters en rokers. Daar is werklik iets van alles,\u201d vertel hy trots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oor sy ondervinding wat hy tydens die verfilming van die reeks opgedoen het, kan hy \u2019n boek skryf. Hy vertel dat hy seker die enigste een is wat nog nooit voorheen op televisie was nie en boonop die oudste deelnemer ook. \u201cEk was die TV-maagd en die oudste en het gewapen met my ma se 1965-Kook en Geniet<\/i> daar aangekom \u2013 sy is verlede jaar oorlede en ek het \u2018haar\u2019 maar saamgebring vir inspirasie,\u201d vertel hy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volgens hom gaan Kokkedoor Vuur & Vlam<\/span> nie oor jou Sondagmiddag-braai op jou grasperk nie, maar oor alles van hoe om jou eie wors te maak, snitte te sny tot om koekies op die vuur te kan maak. Hy vertel ook dat tyd \u2019n groot rol gespeel het in die reeks. \u201cJy moes altyd under the gun operate<\/i> en dan mense be\u00efndruk wat vol nonsens is,\u201d s\u00ea hy \u201cDit was druk en die spanning het maar hoog geloop onder ons deelnemers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volgens hom bestaan die reeks uit Onthou- en Kinkelbraaiers met die twee beoordelaars Bertus Basson en Kobus Botha wat hulle geregte dan onder o\u00eb gehad het. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDaar is Onthoubraaiers en Kinkelbraaiers. Ons Onthoubraaiers is eintlik die amateurs en die Kinkelbraaiers die kenners wat almal al by restaurante gewerk het of hul eie restaurante het of selfs spyseniering gestudeer het. Van die Kinkelbraaiers het by by die bekroonde Michelin-sjef Jan-Hendrik van der Westhuizen gewerk en selfs by Bertus Basson. Ek het baie by hulle, die ander deelnemers en selfs die aanbieders geleer,\u201d vertel Francois.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vir hom bly die lekkerste die eenvoudige braai van \u2019n Karootjoppie of \u2019n lamsribbetjie oor die kole met die vetjie wat so lekker saam braai. \u201cDit bly my gunsteling-braaigereg, maar so moeilik om te bekostig. Die skape is ook mos deesdae aan inflasie gekoppel en die pryse van skaapvleis styg saam met die inflasie. Met moeite en goeie voorbereiding kan jy enigiets op die kole braai \u2013 dis ook iets wat ek geleer het tydens die verfilming, maar ek trek \u2019n streep by polonie,\u201d skerts hy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
