Wilfred Solomons-Johannes has been appointed Theewaterskloof Municipality\u2019s new Municipal Manager after acting in this post since April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The decision to appointment Solomons-Johannes in this post permanently was taken on Thursday 27 July during a sitting of the full council. He will serve as Municipal Manager for a maximum of five years, not exceeding a period of one year after the election of a new council in terms of the Municipal Systems Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The vacancy was advertised nationally, and a total of five applications were received. After proper screening candidates were invited to attend the evaluation and interview sessions that were held in July. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Executive Mayor Kallie Papier, Deputy Mayor John Michels and Speaker Derick Appel were among the first to congratulate Solomons-Johannes and wished him well with his term of employment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Solomons-Johannes has more than 25 years\u2019 experience as a local government official. He prides himself on being a public servant, having held various senior-management positions over the past six years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He started his career as an auxiliary, compliance and support officer at the City of Cape Town in 1997, and over the next 10 years worked his way up to the position of Head of Service Delivery for the Disaster Risk Management Centre\u2019s north area in Cape Town. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Solomons-Johannes also served as the Head of Systems Integration, Special Projects and Disaster Operations within the City\u2019s Disaster Risk Management Centre, as Manager of Mayoral Special Projects and Community Engagement within the Office of the then Executive Mayor of Cape Town, Patricia de Lille and as the Director of Urban Management for the City of Cape Town. In January of 2022 he was appointed as Theewaterskloof\u2019s Director of Community Services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He describes himself as dynamic and motivated and aspires to making a meaningful contribution to improve the quality of life for all TWK residents. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Solomons-Johannes admits Theewaterskloof faces many challenges, but says every challenge presents new opportunities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
