Learners of Bosko Christian School in Hermanus had great fun learning about road safety when the Overstrand Traffic Services\u2019 Danny Cat (aka Daantjie Kat) visited them recently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Danny Cat, along with road safety officers Noluthando Kedama and Ralmon Hansen, visited the school to remind the children of safe road user behaviour and introduced some relevant road signs to them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Danny Cat told learners to, among other things, always cross the road in a safe manner and as far as possible always hold the hands of older people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also taught the children that zebra crossings, where scholar patrols do duty and at green traffic lights, are the safest places to cross the road. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Overstrand traffic officer Noluthando Kedama reiterated the importance of the \u201clook right, look left and then right again before crossing the road\u201d rule. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said people often get it the wrong way around, and explained that when you cross the road you first have to look out for oncoming traffic that will be approaching from the right-hand side of the road. Once you reach the middle of the road you have to look out again for traffic that will be approaching from the left.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
