Zakiah Muller was born a fighter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From the moment she took her first breath on 10 May 2010, she had to fight for her life and underwent emergency surgery when she was only four days old. Her fighting spirit once again came to the fore when she was admitted to hospital with meningitis at the age of two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Seven years ago Zakiah joined the SA JKA Karate dojo in Hermanus. She is described as very conscientious, dedicated, very motivated to give her best in everything she does and with a strong sense of perseverance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 13-year old recently participated in the SA JKA National Championships in Johannesburg where she won bronze and qualified to be part of the national team that will participate in the first Indo Pacific Games in Mauritius.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She was only one of many students of SA JKA Hermanus and Riviersonderend dojos that competed in the national championships that were held at the Ellis Park Arena in Gauteng. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zakiah\u2019s parents, Peter and Jasmine Muller, are ecstatic about Zakiah\u2019s achievement but have asked the community to help them make her dream of competing in the Indo Pacific Cup come true.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe as parents cannot afford the expenses that stand at approximately R30 000, including her travelling expenses and hotel accommodation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is an opportunity of a lifetime and we as parents do not want to deprive her of this chance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is honestly a great honour and we as parents are super proud of this remarkable daughter of ours,\u201d they stated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the help of friends and family, they have launched a number of fund raisers and also started a BackaBuddy campaign. The latest fund raiser is a raffle where supporters stand the chance to win one night\u2019s stay at Caledon Hotel, a day at the Spa for two adults and two children or a R500 meal voucher. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
