Overstrand Municipality\u2019s Law Enforcement units continue to achieve success in the fight against drugs and drug abuse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The various units, including the Overstrand Rural Safety Unit, arrested one suspect for dealing in drugs and 10 for possession of drugs on the heels of the big drug find at an alleged cannabis laboratory, in which nearly 200 dagga plants were confiscated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Between 5 and 19 September these units, with various other municipal law enforcement agencies and the South African Police Service arrested 43 suspects for a number of crimes. One was for dealing in and 10 for possession of drugs, five for possession of dangerous weapons, three for possession of West Coast Rock Lobster (WCRL) tails, four for possession of stolen property, three for attempting to fish without a permit, one for assault and 10 wanted suspects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The officials also confiscated 523 WCRL tails, 14 Mandrax tablets and two knives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Western Cape Minister of Police Oversight and Community Safety Reagen Allen said: \u201cIt once again demonstrates how important our K-9 and Rural Safety Units are in removing items that are drivers of various crimes from our communities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Western Cape Government wants to ensure that local residents do not have to contend with criminals and their illicit operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
