{"id":47264,"date":"2023-10-12T15:30:48","date_gmt":"2023-10-12T13:30:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/hermanustimes\/oud-polisieman-van-caledon-gevonnis-20231012\/"},"modified":"2025-03-20T05:29:37","modified_gmt":"2025-03-20T03:29:37","slug":"oud-polisieman-van-caledon-gevonnis-20231012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/hermanustimes\/oud-polisieman-van-caledon-gevonnis-20231012\/","title":{"rendered":"Oud-polisieman van Caledon gevonnis"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>\u2019n Voormalige polisiebeampte sal twee jaar agter tralies deurbring nadat hy op aanklagte van korrupsie en poging tot afpersing skuldig bevind is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.24.co.za\/files\/Cms\/General\/d\/9570\/3b6e8ac770b64608b9bd565dd5dd0147.jpeg\" alt=\"Brendill Davids is vir korrupsie aangekeer.\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"embed image\" style=\"text-align:center;\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eric Ntabazalila, woordvoerder van die nasionale vervolgingsgesag in die Wes-Kaap, het bevestig dat Brendill Davids (44), wat voorheen as \u2019n konstabel in Caledon gestasioneer was, Woensdag 11 Oktober in die handelshof in Bellville gevonnis is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDavids sal twee jaar effektiewe tronkstraf uitdien nadat hy skuldig bevind is aan poging tot afpersing en korrupsie,\u201d aldus Ntabazalila.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Di\u00e9 klagte spruit uit \u2019n voorval in Oktober 2016 toe Davids en \u2019n familielid wat toe net 15 jaar oud was, by \u2019n tandarts in Grabouw se spreekkamer deur die Valke in hegtenis geneem was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zinzi Hani, woordvoerder van die Valke in die Wes-Kaap, berig Davids het na bewering voorgestel dat die tandarts ho\u00ebr bedrae by die mediese fonds moet eis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDavids het volgens berigte die dokter afgepers en geld ge\u00ebis,\u201d het Hani verduidelik. \u201cDie dokter het die Valke se ondersoekeenheid daarvan ingelig en \u2019n geheime operasie is begin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDie slagoffer het R50 000 in \u2019n sak oorhandig aan die beskuldigde wat met sy familielid daar was. Die twee is in hegtenis geneem en die volle bedrag geld is teruggevind.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Davids is na sy inhegtenisneming onder polisiebewaking in die hospitaal opgeneem nadat hy simptome van \u2019n hartaanval getoon het. Hy was die volgende oggend ontslaan en in polisie-aanhouding geplaas. Hy is kort daarna op borgtog van R15 000 vrygelaat en die minderjarige was in haar ouers se sorg vrygelaat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hani het bevestig dat die aanklagte teen die minderjarige op 24 Februarie 2017 teruggetrek is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Majoor-generaal Mathipa Makgato, provinsiale hoof van die direktoraat vir prioriteitsmisdaadondersoeke (Valke), het die vonnis verwelkom en die hoop uitgespreek dat
