The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has officially opened applications for the 2024 academic year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
NSFAS is a bursary scheme funded by the Department of Higher Education and Training for those who do not have the financial means to fund their tertiary studies and cannot access bank funding, study loans or bursaries. Students must have a family with an income of R350 000 or less.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
NSFAS will cover your costs for accommodation, living allowance, learning material allowance and personal care allowance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Overstrand Deputy Mayor Lindile Ntsabo encouraged all tertiary learners and matriculants who reside in the Overstrand and plan to study next year for the first time to use this opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is important for applicants to keep a printed copy of their NSFAS online application form and a record of all supporting documents, should they be required later, which they will,\u201d she said. According to the minister the only time supporting documents will be required is when prompted by NSFAS in cases where they cannot verify the parental relationship. Communication will be sent directly by NSFAS to a student to initiate this process.\u201dexplained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Learners who wish to study at any of the public universities and TVET colleges must apply timeously and not wait until the last day. In addition, students don\u2019t have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. The application system will be open until 30 January 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
