{"id":46727,"date":"2024-01-20T06:00:16","date_gmt":"2024-01-20T04:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/hermanustimes\/jeugdiges-uitgedaag-om-meer-bloed-te-skenk-20240119\/"},"modified":"2025-03-20T05:46:38","modified_gmt":"2025-03-20T03:46:38","slug":"jeugdiges-uitgedaag-om-meer-bloed-te-skenk-20240119","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/hermanustimes\/jeugdiges-uitgedaag-om-meer-bloed-te-skenk-20240119\/","title":{"rendered":"Jeugdiges uitgedaag om meer bloed te skenk"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Die Wes-Kaapse Bloeddiens (WKB) doen steeds \u2019n beroep op die publiek \u2013 veral jeugdiges \u2013 om bloed te skenk om lewens te red.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die bloeddiens beoog om elke dag 700 eenhede bloed in te samel om die provinsie van \u2019n veilige, voldoende bloedtoevoer te voorsien.&nbsp;Ideaal gesproke behoort 1% tot 2% van die bevolking bloed te skenk.&nbsp;Die Wes-Kaapse bevolking het die afgelope jaar tot 7,6 miljoen gegroei. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die WKB beoog om sy aktiewe skenkerbasis in die komende jaar met 4\u2009000 nuwe bloedskenkers te vergroot om tred te hou met die vraag na bloed en die steeds groeiende bevolking. Die WKB het tans 72\u2009200 aktiewe bloedskenkers.\u2019n Aktiewe bloedskenker is iemand wat minstens een eenheid bloed \u2013 hetsy plasma, bloedplaatjies of volbloed \u2013 in \u2019n jaar skenk. Die WKB beoog ook om 163\u2009000 eenhede bloed deur die jaar in te samel om in die behoeftes van pasi\u00ebnte te voorsien.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die jeug speel \u2019n deurslaggewende rol in die volhoubaarheid van die skenkerbasis. \u201cOm die jeug te bemagtig om bloed te skenk, gaan nie net oor die voorsiening van onmiddellike behoeftes nie; dis \u2019n belegging in die toekomstige volhoubaarheid van ons bloedvoorraad,\u201d s\u00ea die WKB-skakelbestuurder, Marike Carli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tans is die skenkerbasis volgens ouderdomsgroep soos volg: .\u200916 tot 18 jaar \u2013 8% .\u200919 tot 25 jaar \u2013 14% .\u200926 tot 29 jaar \u2013 7% .\u200930 tot 39 jaar \u2013 18% .\u200940 tot 49 jaar \u2013 20% .\u200950 tot 59 jaar \u2013 18% .\u200960 plus jaar \u2013 15%Die diens hoop om die jeuggedeelte van die skenkerbasis aktief te vergroot sodat 10% van die algehele aktiewe skenkerbasis deur 16- tot 18-jarige skenkers verteenwoordig word en dat dit op 14% van die algehele aktiewe skenkers vir 19- tot 25-jarige skenkers bly. \u201cOns moedig alle bloedskenkers aan om vanjaar iemand te help deur hulle daartoe te verbind om minstens vier keer in 2024 bloed te skenk,\u201d het Carli bygevoeg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elke skenker wat hierdie mylpaal bereik, sal \u2019n ekstra blyk van waardering ontvang. Hulle kan \u2019n neopreen-skootrekenaarsak, naweeksak of \u2019n rugsak op hul vierde skenking kies. Skenkers ouer as 65 sal dit op hul derde skenking ontvang.Ho\u00ebrskoolleerders kan op 16-jarige ouderdom begin bloed skenk. Geen ouerlike toestemming is nodig nie. Leerders moet egter die Popia-vorm voltooi, en ouers moet hierdie wettige toestemmingsdokument vir verwerking van inligting onderteken.Die WKB wil die jeug graag deur deurlopende opvoedingspogings en veldtogte opvoed oor die belangrikheid van bloedskenking en hul noodsaaklike rol om lewens op daardie manier te help red.\u201cOns het ons Super 9-klub in 2023 bekendgestel. Hierdie veldtog moedig jeugskenkers aan om nege skenkings voor hul 19de verjaardag te doen, en deur dit te doen, probeer ons om \u2019n kultuur van lewenslange lewensredders te kweek,\u201d het Carli ges\u00ea.Bloedskenking neem net 30 minute en jy kan elke 56 dae skenk. As jy tussen 16 en 75 is, 50\u2009kg of meer weeg, goeie algemene gesondheid geniet en \u2019n veilige seksuele leefstyl lei, behoort jy te kan skenk.&nbsp;Bloedskenking veroorsaak geen liggaamlike skade nie aangesien slegs 475\u2009ml bloed geneem word; dit word binne 24 uur vervang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Carli het skenkers aangeraai om \u2019n aansienlike maaltyd binne drie tot vier uur te eet voordat hulle \u2019n kliniek besoek en om hul vloeistofinname voor, tydens en n\u00e1 skenking te verhoog.
