Progress gains momentum as property owners of Kwaaiwater continue to make their contributions to their neighbourhood security camera project. The initiative will see the installation of cameras positioned according to the experience and recommendations of the HPP technical team and its appointed experts, WCC Technologies, throughout the suburb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a press release issued by the property owners late last year, initial community funding enabled the installation of backhaul equipment and control room assets, now to be followed by the roll-out of camera installations commencing in February. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cKwaaiwater will benefit from the latest technology appropriate for each site,\u201d the residents said. \u201cCameras will be capable of capturing high-definition video footage, smart analytics and will have infra-red capability.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The system will close the gap between the area and surrounding suburbs already equipped with cameras that are successfully monitored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project further enhances the current pro-active integrated public safety surveillance system in the eastern area of Hermanus, where number-plate recognition cameras are already positioned at various points between the CBD and the end of Vo\u00eblklip. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
HPP\u2019s Executive Officer, Marcia Bown, stated: \u201cIt is without a doubt the Kwaaiwater residents\u2019 contribution to the HPP surveillance network, which will further advance our crime prevention activities ensuring public safety across the Hermanus Special Rating Area (HSRA)\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following the installation of CCTV equipment in neighbouring areas there has been a significant reduction in crime incidents and several successful arrests and interventions. These cameras have become indispensable in reducing crime and enabling law enforcement agencies to immediately trace criminals throughout the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
