Mense kom van heinde en ver om hom te sien en selfs Steve Kirkman, wat Buffel 10 jaar gelede in Buffelsbaai raakgeloop en hom s\u00f3 \u201cgedoop\u201d het, het hom kom besoek. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hermanus Times<\/em> is met oproepe oorval oor die nuwe, bekende \u201cinwoner\u201d en Kathy van der Straaten het foto\u2019s van \u2019n jong olifantrob gestuur, wat sy op 7 Februarie 2015 geneem het. \u201cEk weet nie of dit Buffel was nie, maar dit kan nie toeval wees dat \u2019n olifantrob nege jaar later op dieselfde tyd weer \u2019n draai in Onrus maak nie,\u201d het sy ges\u00ea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meredith Thornton, \u2019n voormalige navorsingsko\u00f6rdineerder van die Dyer-eiland-bewaringstrust, het bevestig Buffel was destyds ook op Onrus se strand. \u201cBuffel was die enigste olifantrob wat destyds op die strand was; dit kan dus net hy wees,\u201d het sy bevestig..<\/span> Buffel was al te sien in Vishoek, Houtbaai, Diasstrand en nou hier in Onrus en is besig om te vervel. Dit is nie vreemd vir olifantrobbe om hierdie proses te ondergaan nie. Volgens kenners verloor hulle in die proses nie net hul hare en naels nie, maar ook baie gewig aangesien hulle nie eet nie en net op hul vetreserwes staatmaak. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Buffel kom eintlik van Marion-eiland af \u2013 sowat 1 200 km van Kaapstad. Hy het glo sy naam gekry omdat hy in November 2014 in Buffelsbaai met die nommer 16577 gemerk is. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
