World Art Day, which was first declared in 2019 during the 40th session of UNESCO\u2019s General Conference, is celebrated annually on 15 April and is dedicated to the birthday of the famous Renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Caledon Library celebrated World Art Day by exhibiting the works of three local artists. Carol Mangiagalli, who paints in the na\u00efve style, is a well-known artist with many exhibitions, both in South Africa and internationally, to her name. Six of her vibrant paintings are on view at the library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reagan Kortj\u00e9, 21, is a self-taught artist who specialises in realistic pencil portrait sketches. Although drawing from a very young age, for the past three years art has become his full-time occupation. This is the first time Kortj\u00e9 has taken part in an exhibition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He works mainly on commissions and he told Hermanus Times<\/span> that these keep him pretty busy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Jan\u00e9 Swart is exhibiting a few of her beautiful paintings of birds, flowers and fruit showcasing the variety of her style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Librarian Gerhard van Wyk said: \u201cIt is important to honour our local artists, the established ones as well as the younger ones, not only to create awareness within the community, but also to give them the exposure and recognition they deserve.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The artworks can be viewed at the library until the end of
