In light of the number of missing children, kidnappings and human trafficking making news headlines recently members of the Napier Police and the local Community Policing Forum (CPF) visited the Agulhas School of Skills to create awareness of these topics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ivan Boshoff, chairman of the Napier CPF, reported they made both the learners and teachers aware of the threat of abduction, kidnapping, extortion and human trafficking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe reality is that this does happen and that it is happening closer and closer to us,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Learners were urged to always be vigilant and to be aware of what is happening in their environment. Learners were also taught always report suspicious or strange vehicles and people who are seen lurking near the school or in the community and might be photographing children. In this regard, learners were taught what exactly to look out for that could help to identify the suspect. They were also urged not to walk alone in dark and dangerous places.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The learners also had fun learning the \u201cHelp Me\u201d hand-sign, which they can use to wordlessly convey when they are in distress. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
