The police in the Overberg have called for calm ahead of a march planned by the Land Party on Wednesday 1 May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Major-General Miriam Mochologi, the Overberg District Police Commissioner, stated the police are fully aware of the march that has been scheduled to take place and gave the assurance the necessary measures have been put in place to ensure a peaceful protest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe as the police would like to assure the community we are operationally ready to police the march,\u201d she said. Mochologi urged the public to refrain from posting unverified news regarding the intended march on social-media platforms. \u201cAll updates will be dealt with by the police.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Land Party Chief Leader Gcobani Ndzongana confirmed people will be gathering from early morning in front of the Zwelihle Sports Field before marching to Onrus, where they will lay wreaths. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe march will start at 10:00,\u201d he said. \u201cWe will walk past Zwelihle Primary to Schulphoek Road, through Sandbaai to the traffic lights at Engen, and from there along the R43 to Onrus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe African Transformation Movement president Vuyo Zungula and a bus of ATM supporters from Cape Town as well as our Premier candidate Mehmet Vefa Dag and Land Party supporters from Cape Town will also join Land Party members from across the Overberg.
