An undercover police operation paid off when the officials arrested five suspects believed to have been involved in the theft of equipment in a break-in at the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) offices in Caledon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Major-General Miriam Mochologi, the Overberg District Police Commissioner, reported that the police\u2019s Overberg District Task Team convened an undercover operation immediately after the break-in was reported in the early hours of Wednesday 8 May. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The covert operation paid off when five suspects were arrested on Thursday and the stolen items recovered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFive suspects were arrested for possession of the IEC equipment that had been reported stolen,\u201d Mochologi stated. \u201cAll suspects are facing theft charges and expected to appear in the Caledon Magistrates\u2019 Court on Friday 10 May.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The District Commissioner expressed her appreciation for information from the community that contributed to the recovery of the stolen goods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
