Christian Radio Station Disa FM hosted a very successful food-and-clothing charity drive on Saturday 18 May at the Eagles Nest Day Care Centre in Stanley Shuma Street, Grabouw, where the whole idea was to hand food parcels and clothing out to the less fortunate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe proclaim Christ unashamedly and on the day we put the word in action in line with James 2:17, \u2018So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead\u2019,\u201d said Monica Coetsee, station manager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt literally looked like election day as the people were queueing since very early. We allowed 50 people in at a time, and each adult received a food parcel ticket. At the first three tables people could choose clothing for themselves or their family members. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis consisted of pre-loved clothing, which was sorted into ladies\u2019, gentlemen\u2019s and children\u2019s clothing. Then they received a cup of healthy soup and they could choose a vetkoek, cupcake or koesister as a snack. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAt the last table they could hand in their food parcel ticket and receive a parcel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAmong some of the items in the food parcels were a packet of food that could feed a family of four (Maxi Blend), ready-made soup in a plastic holder, pasta, maize meal and soya mince.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Coetsee said that the station was surprised by the number of people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs in the Bible, the fish and bread in our hands looked as if they would never be enough to feed the numbers in the queues, but God made sure every person walked away with something and, in the end, there was even food over, which we then divided among those who stayed behind to watch artists Deolin Britz and Chrisse Hugo, who sang a few songs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
