Seven robbers have been sentenced to direct imprisonment ranging from 10 to 15 years after being convicted of a business robbery that occurred in Caledon in 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Brigadier Donovan Heilbron, Deputy District Commissioner of the police in the Overberg, thanked the investigating team for their good work, the community whose tip-offs led to the suspects\u2019 arrest and the National Prosecuting Authority for the role they played in ensuring the conviction and hefty sentence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said: \u201cInformation from the public was key to making the arrests and that is why we urge the community to continue placing its trust in the police and to work closely with police to ensure perpetrators are not only arrested but successfully prosecuted and brought to book for the crimes they committed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The suspects, ranging in age from 22 to 30, were sentenced in the Somerset West Regional court last week on charges of robbery with aggravating charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The goods stolen during the business robbery, including a laptop, cellphones and two firearms were recovered, said Heilbron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
