An intensive undercover operation led to the arrest of four suspects wanted in connection with two cold-blooded murders in Zwelihle during April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Major-General Miriam Mochologi, Overberg District Police Commissioner, confirmed two of the suspects, both in their mid-30s, appeared in Hermanus Magistrates\u2019 Court on Monday (15 July) on charges of murder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sources confirmed these two accused were linked to the murder of a man shot and killed in Zwelihle in April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The motive, said the source, is believed to be extortion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTwo more suspects will appear in court on Wednesday 17 July, as they were arrested on Sunday and not together with the other accused,\u201d Mochologi said. \u201cThe investigation is ongoing, and we believe more arrests are imminent.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The commissioner appealed to the community to assist the police with information that could lead to further arrests and the recovery of the murder weapon or weapons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe urge those who might have information about the case to visit their nearest police station and speak to the station commander who will refer them to the investigating officer. All information will remain confidential.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a separate incident, a man from Zwelihle was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly hacked his wife (51) to death with a panga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The husband was arrested and appeared in the Hermanus Magistrates\u2019 Court on Tuesday. The investigation continues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
