While South African Sauvignon Blanc performs excellently locally and internationally, producers can now show their mettle in Sauvignon Blanc South Africa\u2019s annual FNB Top 10 competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Entries for the exclusive competition opened on Monday 15 July. It is presented by the cultivar group Sauvignon Blanc SA, in partnership with valued title partner FNB and platinum partner Ever SA for the 18th time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A distinguished panel of leading wine experts, led by the Cape Wine Master Dr Winifred Bowman, will convene at Uitkyk Estate in Stellenbosch from Tuesday 27 to Thursday 29 August to identify the country\u2019s best Sauvignon Blanc wines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Joining her on the panel are Benguela Cove head winemaker Johann Fourie, De Grendel winemaker Morgan Steyn, Three Quarter Wines owner-winemaker Mahalia Kotjane, Basic Wine oenologist Dr Carien Coetzee as well as two prot\u00e9g\u00e9s, Nompumelelo Mosaka of Hartenberg Wine Estate and Lulo Palesa of Neil Ellis Wines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Coetzee, a committee member of Sauvignon Blanc SA, has high expectations. \u201cEvery year, the FNB Top 10 represents great variety in style and origin, and this year we are particularly looking forward to innovative wooded and unwooded styles as well as interesting flavour profiles,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Twenty finalists will be announced in September, after which the 10 winners will be revealed at the prestigious FNB Sauvignon Blanc SA Top 10 awards event in October. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
