Cape Agulhas Municipality (CAM) showed it is a municipality that cares for its residents when it engaged in activities that made a difference to the lives of the less fortunate on Mandela Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CAM\u2019s municipal manager, Eben Phillips, led by example and participated in various Madiba Day initiatives across the area, including the Hanging with Madiba project, where municipal employees and members of the community could hang clothes on a line that was strung at the municipal offices in Bredasdorp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Phillips, CAM deputy mayor Karin Donald, the municipality\u2019s human resources department and senior management team visited the Anene Booysen Skills Centre in Bredasdorp, where they joined forces with the Construction CETA management and learners to clean the centre\u2019s grounds and to kick-start a painting project that will run over the next two weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Phillips also accompanied the Strategic Services and Internal Auditors team to Club Emmanuel in Napier, a club for the elderly run by Child Welfare Napier. They treated the elderly residents to warm drinks and tasty treats and also handed warm blankets out to everyone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Special gifts were also given to the oldest man and oldest woman and the workers who care for the elderly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The municipality thanked the following sponsors for this outreach project: Uitzight Mine\/Bredasdorp Steenwerke (Leon Jamneck), Lucor Mine\/Lucor Construction (Luwald Gilliomee), Jeffrey (Bar) Nel and Creamy Creations (Melissa Marthinus).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CAM Finance Team also stepped up to the challenge and generously contributed to the Hanging with Madiba initiative by hanging their donations on the clothes line in front of the main building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the spirit of Mandela Day, staff of Bredasdorp Library handed beautifully knitted socks, beanies and scarves specifically crafted for premature babies from disadvantaged families over to the Otto du Plessis Hospital in Bredasdorp.
