This was the statement Panthera Africa Big Cat Sanctuary released after the big cat\u2019s death. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Max was diagnosed with kidney and liver function problems in March, and despite best efforts his health continued to decline. \u201cOver the past few weeks Max struggled with his medications and showed significant signs of fatigue and discomfort,\u201d Heather Blackstock, marketing manager said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOn 29 July, some of the staff members spent a beautiful day with Max filled with play, a special meal and cherished moments. He was then taken to our on-site veterinary clinic where Dr Peter Caldwell conducted a thorough examination.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Blackstock, Caldwell determined that Max\u2019s health would continue to deteriorate over the coming months due to severe kidney and liver damage. \u201cThrough animal communication Max had expressed his wish to be let go should his condition worsen. Respecting his wishes and honouring his life as the magnificent \u2018Prince Maximillian\u2019, we made the incredibly difficult decision to let him go peacefully,\u201d Blackstock said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs Max\u2019s spirit left, the entire pride, including Rays, our tiger, roared their farewell, a touching testament to the deep bonds and respect within our sanctuary.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Max\u2019s journey with Panthera began with resilience and courage, and he quickly became a symbol of strength and love. \u201cHis playful nature, combined with his kind spirit, brought joy to all who knew him. Max was often the first to greet visitors, walking along the fence with them and sharing his vibrant energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMax will forever live on in our hearts and remain an integral part of Panthera Africa. His legacy will continue to inspire us as we carry forward our mission to provide a safe haven for big cats rescued from exploitation,\u201d she concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
