Die sendingdorpie Elim het onlangs sy 200ste bestaansjaar gevier. Die verrigtinge het reeds Woensdag 31 Julie met \u2019n \u201counag-diens\u201d begin en is Sondag 4 Augustus met \u2019n feesdiens afgesluit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die feesvierings het musiek, stalletjies en spesiale uitstallings ingesluit. Een van die uitstallings wat besonder baie aftrek gekry het, was ongetwyfeld die groot veldblomuitstalling, wat onder die bekwame leiding van Oom Adriaan Hanekom tot stand gekom het.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oom Adriaan, 81, is geen onbekende as dit by veldblomskoue kom nie. Nie net het hy en sy vrou, tannie Rita, \u2019n fynboskwekery in Caledon bedryf nie, maar hy was ook vir jare die voorsitter van die Caledon-veldblomgenootskap wat die bekende Caledon-veldblomskou gere\u00ebl het. Di\u00e9 skou was \u2019n groot toeristeaantreklikheid en het mense van heinde en ver gelok om Caledon se blommeprag te kom bewonder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nadat die Caledon-veldblomskou doodgeloop het, was Oom Adriaan en die Caledon-span vir jare by die Bredasdorp-veldblomskou betrokke totdat dit by die Nampo-skou ingesluit is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

N\u00e1 46 jaar in Caledon het oom Adriaan en tannie Rita in Baardskeerdersbos gaan aftree \u2013 \u2019n lekker rustige plattelandse aftrede tot Rudi Visser van Floraland oom Adriaan gekontak het om te hoor of hy met die veldblomuitstalling vir Elim se 200ste feesvierings kan help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAdriaan het ges\u00ea hy kan sy kennis deel, maar dat hy self nie meer fisiek die werk kan doen nie. Floraland het al die materiaal verskaf en Adriaan het raad gegee oor hoe dit gedoen moet word.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDit was werklik \u2019n spanpoging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDit was vir ons baie lekker, maar hierdie was eintlik Adriaan se swanesang. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHy het dit baie geniet, veral ook omdat hy sy kennis wou oordra. Baie jong mense was betrokke en dit was vir Adriaan \u2019n riem onder die hart, want dit is wat hy graag wou gehad het \u2013 dat jong mense betrokke raak en dat hulle die kennis kry om aan te gaan,\u201d s\u00ea tannie Rita.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
