The very popular Greyton Rose and Garden Fair, which started out as the Greyton Rose Fair 35 years ago, was indeed a celebration of Spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The fair, which was held over the last two weekends in October, was once again a huge success, attracting locals as well as many out-of-town visitors to the picturesque village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A number of gardens, varying from English country rose gardens, country cottage gardens, informal gardens to informal indigenous gardens, were open to the public on both weekends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Saturday the 26th saw the opening parade lead by the local drum majorettes, with Miss Rose and Miss Rosebud following behind. After an absence of a few years, 15 vintage cars formed part of the parade again this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Saturday morning market was a hive of activity with locals and visitors browsing the stalls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The return of the rose show, which was last held in 2019, was welcomed by many visitors to the fair. Beautiful specimens of roses were exhibited in the Anglican Church hall on the 26th and the 27th. Corrie Fogwell\u2019s Royal Zulu rose was awarded best rose on show. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
All proceeds of the show will be allocated to NGOs in the valley that support childrens\u2019 needs and welfare.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
