Uiteindelik is die groot dag byna hier! Op Saterdag 30 November sal ATKV-Crescendo 50 jaar van talentontginning en -ontdekking by die Daisy Jones-teater buite Stellenbosch vier.<\/p>\n

Ons gaan groot en ons gaan GOUD<\/em> met Crescendo-legendes soos Karin Hougaard, Petronel Baard en Rouel Beukes, wat saam met meer onlangse legendes soos Selby Williams, Lucia Poggenpoel en Alzanley Lizemore musikale huldeblyke gaan bring aan kunstenaars soos Anneli van Rooyen, Jak de Priester en Rina Hugo, wie se musikale loopbane met die hulp van Crescendo vlerke gekry het.<\/p>\n

\u201cATKV-Crescendo is een van die organisasie se grootste en bekendste projekte,\u201d meen Gerrie Lemmer, uitvoerende hoof vir kultuur by die ATKV. \u201cOor die vyftig jaar van ATKV-Crescendo se bestaan, het di\u00e9 projek talle musieklegendes opgelewer wat diep spore in die Afrikaanse musieklandskap getrap het.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kyk jy na die lys wenners tussen 1974 en 2005 is dit duidelik dat ATKV-Crescendo se wenners huishoudelike name in die land geword het met liedjies wat treffersparades lank oorheers het. Hier is maar net \u2019n paar name: Rouel Beukes (1974), Randall Wicomb (1975-1977), Rina Hugo (1978), Anneli van Rooyen (1979), Karin Hougaard (1980), Innes en Franna Benad\u00e9 (1985), Coleske (1988), Lizanne Helberg (1993), Anna Davel (1997), R\u00e9ana Nel (2000), Joe Niemand en Jaco du Plessis (2001) en Jak de Priester (2002).<\/p>\n

Rouel Beukes, wat saam met Eoudia de Kock in 1974 die eerste ATKV-Crescendo gewen het, vertel dat die kompetisie mense van hom laat kennis neem het. \u201cEk was 19 en \u2019n onderwysstudent, maar ATKV-Crescendo het my self eers laat besef dat ek \u2019n loopbaan in die kunste kan h\u00ea. Alhoewel ek my nie op ligte musiek toegespits het nie, het ek die geleentheid gehad om in meer as 130 operas, operettes en musiekblyspele oor die w\u00eareld heen op te tree.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2019n Meer kontempor\u00eare legende is Jak de Priester. \u201cEk kan daardie dag soos gister onthou, want ek het nooit gedink ek kan dit wen nie. Vandag weet ek dat ATKV-Crescendo my loopbaan vlerke gegee het. As dit nie vir die ATKV was nie, is \u201cSally Williams Nougat\u201d nooit opgeneem nie en sou niemand van my geweet het nie.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sedert die beginjare was daar verskillende afdelings waarin voornemende kunstenaars kon deelneem. Een daarvan was die komposisieafdeling wat in 1982 en 1984 deur Christa Steyn gewen is. Tussen 1991 en 2000 het Christa die ATKV se Ligteliedjiewerkskool aangebied. Lize Beekman en Anna Davel is maar \u2019n paar van die kunstenaars wat onder leiding van Christa hul eie stem in die Afrikaanse musiekw\u00eareld oopgeskryf het. Davel, ook die Crescendo-wenner van 1997, vertel dat haar paaie die eerste keer tydens die ATKV-Ligteliedjiewerkskool met Christa s\u2019n gekruis het. \u201cBenewens die musikale leiding wat sy my gegee het, het sy ook \u2019n lewenslange vriendin geword.\u201d<\/p>\n

Selfs al was hy nie \u2019n wenner nie, het Deon Meiring, voorsanger van die groep Glaskas, steeds gebaat by die ondervinding. Hy het deurgedring na die finaal en sy liedjie Vrede het \u2019n derde plek verower. \u201cEk was nog nooit goed met kompetisies nie, maar die mense wat ek deur die projek ontmoet het, het my aangespoor om voort te gaan met musiek.\u201d In 2006 het Glaskas hul eerste album, Revolusie, romantiek, ruk en rol vrygestel.<\/p>\n

Met die koms van Idols en ander realiteitstalentkompetisies het die ATKV besluit om te fokus op kreatiewe skeppings in Afrikaans. In 2006 word ATKV-Crescendo herloods onder die naam ATKV-CrescendoKreatief. Hierdie projek, waarby groot name soos onder andere Lize Beekman, Annake de Villiers, David Kramer en Karen Zoid oor die jare betrokke was, het \u2019n nuwe generasie liedjieskrywers soos onder andere Babette Viljoen (2011-wenner) opgelewer.<\/p>\n

Alhoewel ATKV-Crescendo nog altyd sinoniem was met gehalte, het die musikale landskap oor vyf dekades die ATKV genoop om die konsep voortdurend te vernuwe. Een van die tekortkominge in die Afrikaanse landskap in die sewentigerjare was die gebrek aan oorspronklike Afrikaanse liedjies. Rouel vertel: \u201cIn 1974 was daar nie ligte Afrikaanse liedjies wat my stem, \u2019n bas, gepas het nie. Ek moes spesiale toestemming kry om \u2018If I were a rich man\u2019 te sing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Karin Hougaard verklap weer dat sy destyds nie heeltemal geweet het hoe om die aandag te hanteer nie. Op 16-jarige ouderdom moes haar ouers, haar skool en later die PU vir CHO (vandag die Noordwes-Universiteit) haar bystaan om \u2019n lang en suksesvolle loopbaan te lei. \u201cEk sou baie kon gebaat het by \u2019n bietjie emosionele leiding na afloop van die kompetisie. Dit is waarom ek dink dat ATKV-Crescendo in die huidige formaat so ongelooflik kosbaar is.\u201d<\/p>\n

Benewens die behoefte na emosionele leiding en Afrikaanse musiek in verskeie genres, glo projekleier sedert 2014, Morn\u00e9 van Staden, dat die finansi\u00eble aspek van \u2019n loopbaan in die kunste uiteindelik die verskil tussen sukses en mislukking kan beteken. \u201cSelfs al het \u2019n kunstenaar net 5c in hulle beursie, wil ons hulle help om met daardie geld te woeker ten einde \u2019n volhoubare loopbaan in die kunste te kan h\u00ea.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alhoewel al hierdie komponente voorheen in die Crescendo-projekte vervat was, het ATKV-Crescendo, soos dit sedert 2012 weer bekendstaan, al hierdie elemente deelgemaak van die projek deur klem te l\u00ea op die volgende doelwitte:

<\/p>\n

.\u2009Om oorspronklike Afrikaanse musiek in verskeie genres te skep. Kletsrymer en kreatiewe direkteur Robin Fourie (ook bekend as Die Hooflig) vertel dat daar tot dusver nog nie baie oorspronklike Afrikaanse musiek vir jazz en R&B, om maar net \u2019n paar te noem, is nie. \u201cMarsha Bothma is een van ATKV-Crescendo se finaliste wat met haar album die R&B-gaping in Afrikaans vul.\u201d

<\/p>\n

.\u2009Om opkomende kunstenaars se talent te ontgin en ontwikkel. Morn\u00e9 verduidelik: \u201cOns glo dat talent nie aan \u2019n persoon gegee word om daarmee te kompeteer nie. Dit word aan ons gegee om mekaar daarmee te verryk.\u201d Hy verduidelik dat dit dan ook die rede is waarom daar nie \u2019n enkele wenner aangewys word nie. \u201cTwintig semifinaliste word uit talle digitale en in-persoon-oudisies gekies om aan die mentorskapprogram in Maart deel te neem. Tydens hierdie program gee mentors uit verskillende afdelings van die musiekbedryf die deelnemers leiding om \u2019n suksesvolle en volhoubare loopbaan in die kunste te kan bedryf. Aan die einde van daardie slypskool is daar ook \u2019n konsert waar slypskooldeelnemers die geleentheid kry om die musikale leiding wat hulle ontvang het aan die publiek bekend te stel.\u201d Uit hierdie twintig deelnemers word daar weer 10 finaliste gekies wat aan verdere produksies en slypskole vir die res van die jaar gaan deelneem. \u201cOns glo egter dat selfs die deelnemers wat nie uiteindelik een van die 10 finaliste is nie steeds die vaardighede gekry het om op hul eie aan \u2019n musikale loopbaan te bou.\u201d

.\u2009Om nuwe produkte te skep. Die talent wat uit hierdie slypskole die afgelope aantal jaar na vore gekom het, het die ATKV genoop om die ATKV-Crescendo-produksiehuis te begin. Benewens \u2019n reeks optredes onder leiding van kreatiewe direkteur Robin Fourie, die Platformsessies waar finaliste die geleentheid kry om saam met hul mentors op te tree, kry die belowendste kunstenaars die geleentheid om \u2019n mini-album en musiekvideo op te neem. Die ATKV verskaf die geld en steun, maar die musikante is verantwoordelik vir die logistiek. Vanjaar het drie kunstenaars byvoorbeeld die geleentheid gekry om albums bekend te stel. Naas hul eie werk moes hulle ook \u2019n lied van vorige Crescendo-deelnemers opneem. Alzanley Lizemore sing \u201cMuse\u201d saam met Karin Hougaard. Marsha Bothma het die Christa Steyn-treffer, \u201cEk wil vir jou\u201d, saam met Anna Davel opgeneem en Selby Williams se keuse het op \u201cDeur die vallei\u201d van Deon Meiring geval. Son\u00e9l Brits, besturende direkteur: ATKV-MSW, vertel dat sy nie kan wag vir Crescendo GOUD<\/em> nie. \u201cEk weet dit gaan \u2019n produksie van uitstaande gehalte wees. Stof dus daardie aandpakke af, vryf blink daardie diamante en kom vier vyftig jaar van musikale uitmuntendheid.\u201d<\/p>\n
