Nie net vier Afriaans sy 100ste bestaansjaar as amptelike taal nie, maar die Kalfiefees het vanjaar ook iets om te vier. Die gewilde fees, wat jaarliks in Augustus in Hermanus gehou word, vier sy 25ste bestaansjaar.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Die Kalfiefees vier sy 25ste be- staansjaar met die huldiging van 25 ikone in die Afrikaanse kunste wat elk ‘n verbintenis met die streek het,” vertel die feesdirekteur, Hester Finberg. Die gewilde ikone is onder andere Breyten Breytenbach, Katinka Heyns, Chris Barnard, Marius en Evette Beyers, Jan Rabie, Marjory Wallace, Uys Krige, Gregoire Boonzaier, Ingrid Jonker, Ettienne Leroux, Pierre van Pletzen, Pieter Cilliers, Philip de Vos, Kerneels Breytenbach, Anton Goosen, Petrovna Metelerkamp, Trix Pienaar, Hennie Niemann, Carel Trichardt, Petru Wessels, Wilna Snyman, Cobus Rossouw, Sandra Kotz\u00e9 en Marco van der Colf.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wat hierdie ikone so uniek maak, is dat die meeste van hulle bande met die Overberg het. Uys Krige, wat op 10 Augustus 1987 in sy huis, Swartdakkies in Onrus, aan maagkanker oorlede is, het nooit gehuiwer om politieke uitsprake te maak nie. In sy jonger jare het hy heftig uitgevaar teen die uitsetting van mense uit Distrik Ses, en later jare was hy een van die skrywers wat Athol Fugard se saak bepleit het toe di\u00e9 ‘n paspoort geweier is. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die skrywer, joernalis en uitgewer Kerneels Breytenbach, wat al jare in die Overstrand woon, het geen bekendstelling nodig nie. Hy het in 1989 ‘n uitgewer by Human & Rousseau geword en in 1994 het hy Koos Human as hoofbestuurder daar opgevolg. Later het hy die publikasiebestuurder van NB-uitgewers geword. Hy is bekend vir sy kreatieweskrywerwerk, romans, kortverhale en romanverwerkings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En wie ken nou nie vir Oubaas van 7de Laan<\/em> of Spike van Orkney Snork nie<\/em>? Pierre van Pletzen, di\u00e9 bekende akteur, woon saam met sy vrou, die aktrise Sandra Vaughn, in Kleinmond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anton Goosen, die vader van Afrikaanse rockmusiek, is ‘n bekende in sy tuisdorp, Gansbaai. Di\u00e9 gewilde kuns- tenaar se immergewilde liedjies soos “Blommetjie gedenk aan my”, “Pampoene”, “Magaliesberg” en meer word vandag nog deur oud en jonk geniet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Petrovna Metelerkamp, wat in 2000 die uitgewery Hemel & See Boeke in Vermont gestig het, gee steeds trefferboeke uit soos Annette Human se Nuwe, beter kortpadkos, Elise Bishop se Twee lewens en Jeanne Goosen se ‘n Lewe vol sinne.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ook Trix Pienaar se talent ken geen perke nie. Ons ken haar as die Weet-Bix-tannie, maar die ikoniese aktrise het in 1971 haar buiging in die fliek Pappa Lap gemaak. Sy en haar seun het vir jare in haar unieke treinhuis in Pringlebaai gewoon. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
