‘n Gesin is in skok gelaat n\u00e1 ‘n emosionele besoek aan die Mediclinic Paarl op 10\u2009Julie waar personeel by die ongevalle-eenheid hulle meegedeel het dat hul baba van 34 weke “doodgebore” is. Tot hul verbasing is die baba kort daarna sonder veel komplikasies en springlewendig in die Paarlse staatshospitaal gebore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volgens Morn\u00e9 Botha (37), die pa van die pasgebore baba, wat vandag ‘n week oud is, het hy en sy swanger lewensmaat, Nicolene Baart (29), die Mediclinic Paarl besoek nadat sy erge pyn en ligte bloeding ervaar het.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die ouers het aanvanklik vir ‘n geruime tyd by die Paarl-hospitaal se ongevalle-eenheid gewag, maar uiteindelik besluit om eerder na die Mediclinic te gaan aangesien Baart se pyn erger geword het.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Met hul aankoms om sowat 20:30 is hulle na die nooddienste-eenheid vergesel, waar hulle meegedeel is dat die sonar nie die baba se hartklop kon opspoor nie. Hy is toe as doodgebore ver- klaar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Baart se ma het kort n\u00e1 die skoknuus by die hospitaal opgedaag om die rekening ten volle te betaal, waarna sy haar dogter probeer troos het terwyl sy die nuus verwerk het.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In haar vertroosting het sy toe liggies op die sonar-toestel gedruk wat steeds aan Baart se buik gekoppel was. ‘n Duidelike hartklop was hoorbaar.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volgens die ouma het die hele familie dit onmiddellik gehoor en die hospitaalpersoneel daaroor ingelig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Met die mediese werkers se aankoms is die familie egter meegedeel dat die hoorbare hartklop glo di\u00e9 van Baart was, en nie van die baba nie.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die ouma het ges\u00ea dat sy die verduideliking van die mediesepersoneellid aanvaar het en nie daarop aangedring dat verdere bevestiging verkry word nie, aangesien sy op hul oordeel en kundigheid vertrou het.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die familie het nie ‘n mediese fonds nie en het gevra dat Baart na die Paarl-hospitaal vir die induksieproses oorgeplaas word. Sy is omstreeks 23:00 per ambulans na di\u00e9 fasiliteit geneem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daar het sy onmiddellik mediese sorg ontvang en die induksieproses is begin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sy is met Botha aan haar sy vir die bevalling voorberei. Haar ma is terug huis toe. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aangesien die proses egter langer as verwag geduur het, is uiteindelik besluit om die baba deur middel van ‘n keisersnee in die staatshospitaal te verwyder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Baart is daarna onder sterk verdowing geplaas, waarna die keisersnee uitgevoer is, maar tot almal se verbasing is ‘n gesonde en skreeuende babatjie ongeveer 01:45 die volgende oggend (Vrydag 11\u2009Julie) gebore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volgens Botha was hy oorstelp van vreugde en het dadelik Baart se ma gebel.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sy het verduidelik dat sy en haar man reeds “besig was om ‘n begrafnis [vir die babatjie] te re\u00ebl” en het gevoel omdat die baba reeds so “ver gevorderd was” dat die familie hom “in waardigheid wou groet”.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volgens haar was Botha se woorde oor die telefoon: “Wil jy die goeie of die slegte nuus eerste hoor?” Sy het gedink: “Kan daar dan n\u00f3g slegte nuus wees?” Tot haar verbasing het Botha haar toe meegedeel dat sy weer ‘n ouma geword het.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vandag sterk klein Corn\u00e9 Botha, wat beteken “sonskyn en aanbidding”, in een van die hospitaal se waakeenhede aan omdat hy vroeggebore is en sy longetjies eers moet versterk.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Baart sterk ook in die hospitaal aan n\u00e1 ‘n moeilike en emosionele bevalling, maar het by monde van haar lewensmaat ges\u00ea sy is reeds smoorverlief op hul seuntjie.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beide Baart en haar lewensmaat is van die Paarl.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hoewel die familie dankbaar is oor die baba se geboorte en vir sy gesondheid, het hulle aangedui dat hulle regshulp ingewin het om die beweerde foutiewe diagnose by Mediclinic Paarl verder te ondersoek.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dit blyk dat Baart in vroe\u00eb kraam gegaan het, wat die pyne in haar buik en die ligte bloeding verduidelik, maar die familie kon egter nie met sekerheid s\u00ea nie.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volgens Jacorie Visagie, ‘n woordvoerder by di\u00e9 hospitaal, kan Mediclinic Paarl bevestig dat ‘n formele klagte oor die voorval ontvang is.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
