Met die viering van Afrikaans wat Donderdag 8 Mei 100 jaar oud is, het ‘n reis met nege reuse-letters wat “Afrikaans” uitspel, vandag in Bloemfontein aangedoen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die Afrikaans Amptelik 100-lettertoer wat vanoggend vroeg by Sol-Tech se kampus in Centurion vertrek het, sal Vrydag in die Paarl aankom waar die amptelike feestelikhede ter viering van die 100 jaar van Afrikaans vanaf 8 Mei gevier sal word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘n Vragmotor met die reuse-letters vergesel van ‘n span van die Solidariteit-beweging waaronder AfriForum en Solidariteit ry vandag en m\u00f4re die 1 400km tot in die Paarl. Hulle het vandag in Kroonstad en Bloemfontein aangedoen waar hulle ingewag is deur geesdriftiges wat foto’s geneem het en hul liefde vir Afrikaans as taal beklemtoon het.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Annelien Diedericks het namens die Nasionale Afrikaanse Letterkundige Museum en Navorsingsentrum (NALN) ‘n groete-boodskap en ‘n boek Afrikaans: Ons P\u00eareld van groot waarde <\/em>van die FAK aan die toer oorhandig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Vanuit die ou Goewermentsgebou wat vanjaar sy 150ste verjaardag vier, stuur Naln en die Vriende van Naln ondersteuning en mooi wense saam met Solidariteit se Afrikaans Amptelik 100-lettertoer,” het sy aan Carien Bloem, hoof van onderwysprojekte by AfriForum en projekleier van die Afrikaans Amptelik 100-lettertoer ges\u00ea. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die toer het vanmiddag net voor 14:00 in Bloemfontein aangekom en het later vertrek na Gariepdam waar die groep vanaand oorstaan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hul eindbestemming is die Afrikaanse Taalmonument in die Paarl waar die amptelike feestelikhede ter viering van 100 jaar van Afrikaans as amptelike landstaal op 8 Mei sal begin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die Afrikaans Amptelik 100-lettertoer doen op sy pad uit die noorde by bestemmings aan waartydens inwoners, vakansiegangers en alle belangstellendes hul verjaarsdagwense vir Afrikaans kan kom aflewer \u00e9n di\u00e9 reusekunswerk kan besigtig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die nege letters staan elk sowat 2 m hoog en het \u2019n gesamentlike gewig van nagenoeg 720 kg. \u2019n Letter is aan die Afrikaans Amptelik 100-oorsigkomitee sowel as agt instellings van die Solidariteit Beweging toegeken en elkeen is die afgelope week met unieke ontwerpe, eie aan die onderskeie instellings, versier. Elkeen van hierdie instellings maak in hul veld \u2019n belangrike bydrae tot die groei en voortbestaan van Afrikaans en beeld hul ywer vir die taal op \u2019n kunstige wyse uit op hierdie reuseletters. Di\u00e9 instellings is AfriForum, Solidariteit, Maroela Media, die Federasie van Afrikaanse Kultuurvereniginge (FAK), Sol-Tech, Akademia, die Solidariteit Skoleondersteuningsentrum (SOS) en Helpende Hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volgens Bloem sal die kunswerk vir die duur van die Afrikaans Amptelik 100-feesvieringe, wat van 8 tot 11 Mei plaasvind, op uitstalling wees by die Afrikaanse Taalmonument. Daarna sal dit weer na die noorde van die land geneem word om \u2013 net betyds vir die noordelike been van die fees wat vanaf 22 Mei in Pretoria gehou word \u2013 \u2019n meer permanente staanplek in die skadu van die Voortrekkermonument te kry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
