Die oorsaak van die brand, wat 51 inwoners van Mooiwater dakloos gelaat het, is steeds onbekend. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘n Brand het Saterdagoggend (12 April) vroeg uitgebreek met die Stellenbosch-munisipaliteit se brandweerdienste wat om 02:30 na Daisystraat ontbied is. Die 14 beamptes het gespook om die vlamme te blus en teen 05:30 het die puin van 15 informele wonings agtergebly. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drie huisies is ook in die brand beskadig.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Onder die organisasies en inwoners wat ingespring het om die inwoners te help, was Franco Franschhoek, die Shumeez Scott-stigting, Islamic Relief South Africa en die Lord’s Acre Christian-gemeenskapsentrum, wat ook tydelike verblyf aan die inwoners oor die naweek gebied het.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stuart Grobbelaar, ‘n munisipale woordvoerder, het by navraag ges\u00ea geen ernstige beserings is aangemeld nie.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Die burgemeester, Jeremy Fasser, so- wel as die raadslede Reginald Pheiffer en Rashaad Cupido, het die terrein besoek om die omvang van die skade te ontleed, te bepaal hoe die Stellenbosch-munisipaliteit bystand kan verleen en om die betrokke gesinne moreel te ondersteun,” het hy verduidelik.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In die aanloop tot die wintermaande, wanneer talle inwoners met behulp van vure probeer warm bly, word inwoners gemaan om hul veiligheid te verseker en ag te slaan op die munisipaliteit se deurlopende brand-en-oorstromings-\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

bewusmakingsveldtogte.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enigeen wat skenkings aan die brandslagoffers wil bied, kan nie-\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
