Juliette Stander, wie se dogter, Lisa, so \u2019n leerder is, se frustrasie met die gebrek aan skole vir leerders met spesiale leerbehoeftes in Stellenbosch is juis die rede waarom sy besluit het om Lisa Spesiale Skool op die been te bring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Die skool, wat spesifiek gemik is op die onderrig van kinders met \u2019n verstandelike agterstand van twee jaar of meer, sal volgende jaar in Januarie open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cStellenbosch maak nie voorsiening vir alle kinders met spesiale leerbehoeftes nie,\u201d verduidelik sy. \u201cHoofstroom-onderwys is ontoepaslik vir baie van hierdie kinders, aangesien hulle optimaal vorder met \u2019n aangepaste kurrikulum.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sy s\u00ea elke kind is uniek en leer op verskillende maniere en daarom is dit nodig dat leerders met spesiale leerbehoeftes gereeld ge\u00ebvalueer moet word en ge\u00efndividualiseerde leerplanne vir hulle uitgewerk word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Stander meen dit is vreemd dat in \u2019n universiteitsdorp soos Stellenbosch daar so \u2019n gebrek aan opsies vir leerders met spesiale leerbehoeftes is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDit is die rede waarom baie Stellenbosse ouers hul kinders \u00f3f tuis onderrig \u00f3f hul kinders na skole in ander dorpe stuur. Dit bring onder meer vervoerprobleme mee. Sommige ouers word selfs genoodsaak om hul kinders in spesiale skoolkoshuise in ander dorpe te plaas.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sy s\u00ea die gevolge van ontoepaslike en ontoereikende onderwys het \u2019n gewel\u00addige uitwerking op die kinders en kan tot akademiese agteruitgang, \u2019n swak selfbeeld en vereensaming lei. Dit plaas ouers ook onder groot finansi\u00eble druk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
By Lisa Spesiale Skool sal leerders volgens \u2019n aangepaste CAPS-kurrikulum leer wat op taal, wiskunde en lewensvaardighede fokus. Aktiwiteite soos kuns, musiek en swem sal ook by die skool aangebied word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
